Business.gov.au grant finder tool
Project role: UX / UI design
Business.gov.au provides information on government grants through a grants finder tool. User research on this tool indicated there were many issues including:
- Users felt the tool returned a large number of irrelevant results.
- Users had no understanding of how tool filters affected the number of search results.
- Users did not find it easy to change filter selections and view a different set of results.
After brainstorming solutions with the team I designed a new interface that addressed these issues by:
- Adding extra filters to the grants tool. These filters use existing meta-data to provide users with greater control over the results.
- Making available grants visible from the start of the process, rather than at the end of the tool. Users have a better understanding how filters affect the number of grants shown.
- Combining a guided finder tool with search filters allowing users to change filters at any point in the process.
